She is a 14-year-old eighth-grade honor student and National Junior Honor Society member who presently attends Johnston Middle school, where she is the principal flutist for the school symphonic band. She is a student of Dr. September Payne, and has studied flute since 1992. Adriana won first place in the Houston Flute Club Competition, Junior Division, and performed as soloist with the Houston Flute Club Choir. Other awards and activities include: All Region Band - first chair, 1996; Disney Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra - one of four flutes accepted in the USA in 1997; American Festival for the Arts Conservatory - 1997; Texas Music Festival Region Band summer camp - first chair, 1997; Houston Youth Symphony and Ballet - Philharmonic, principal flutist, 1997. Adriana also performed at the 1997 Texas Flute Society Convention in Denton and was selected as outstanding soloist for the seventh grade. She performed with the Houston Conservatory of Music flute choir. Adriana is a member of the Texas Flute Society and of the Leader's Club.
